Originally published: Lansdowne-Rigby, 1984 Summary: On a mission to discover how fire is made, Maui visits his Aunty Mahuika. Each time he is given a flame he tells her he has lost it, until he eventually has lost all but one of her flames. In a rage she flings her last flame into a kaikomako tree.
