Summary: The major part of this book gives an account of two ordinary NZ blokes over a thirty-five year span. It is centred on Nelson Lakes National Park, and for many years locals regarded the two as the top deer hunters in the area. The tales include humour, hardship, intense physical exertion and near tragedy. The book is also an historical record of huts used during the author's time, but now gone. It is not just about shooting deer, but contains several interesting anecdotes. It is an enjoyable read. (Back cover)
